About

profile2023

I taught science just outside of St. Paul, Minnesota from 2009-2022, teaching mostly Physics and AP Physics 1, with occasional sections of other courses including basic chemistry and 9th grade physical & earth science. I’m particularly interested in educational equity, student thinking and reasoning,  and instruction that emphasizes science practices. A lot of my approach is influenced the Modeling Instruction curriculum. In 2024, I completed a PhD in STEM education from the University of Minnesota where I did my dissertation on how students send each other messages about what it means to be good at science and implications that has for gender equity.
